1:1s & PRIVATE YOGA

Wherever you are in your yoga journey you might have wondered if you could benefit from a private class, or if they are just

an expensive way to practice (I also used to think this!)

Whether we've been practicing for years, months or days, everyone can benefit from more specific instruction that is tailored

to their needs. Since I completed my Art of Adjustments advanced course, I see a wide variety of people for private classes

with varying needs:

  • injuries and ailments (hip impingement, sore lower back)

  • increasing mindfulness and meditation, or using breath-work

  • beginners who need tailored instruction or want to build their confidence before going to classes

  • needing to relax, de-stress and connect to themselves

  • advancing their practice overall

  • wanting to understand yoga philosophy

So, what happens in private yoga?

1. You're interested in private yoga! Great! We will book in is an initial consultation, usually online and completely free. This is for both of our benefits: are we a good fit for each other? What is your primary focus? We keep it very broad at this stage, and book in sessions (or not) afterwards.

2. We've booked our first few classes  and arranged where to meet: my space, your space or at a studio (for an extra fee). I can also do private sessions via Zoom if that is your preference.   I'll email ahead of time to make sure you know what to bring, where to go and remind you we're meeting!

3. The first session is always includes a chat to dive into your goals, lifestyle, health concerns and any specific injuries or ailments you think are relevant. You are in control of how much you share. We then move into yoga poses and a yoga flow so I can assess your needs.

4. With this information, I plan our next yoga session, which will be a full tailored class to suit your individual needs. You choose whether it is 30, 45 or 60 minutes. These normally happen weekly or fortnightly but everyone is different. I always bring all of my own equipment, but you can use yours if you really love it!

5. The private yoga session is completely in your control: stop, ask questions, ask me to change something or explain. 1-1 classes are YOUR time to use as you wish, to be most beneficial to you. You receive my full attention, adjustments (if you like!) and feedback to help you progress.

6. I may give you some ‘homework' - fun and functional exercises tailored to your needs. This could be anything from breathing exercises,  a yoga pose/flow, or a change in your posture. I will also drop you an email with a summary and possibly some reminders!

7. We continue working together - for injuries and physical symptoms I recommend at least 8 sessions - and throughout this time feedback to each other about what is working, what is not and what you need.

8. The final step and our final session involves a review and my recommendations for your continued practice. Many of my students come back to work with me after they have finished, perhaps for another concern, or just to continue their practice!

It is my intention to hand you the tools that you can do in your own time with confidence, so you can live a more balanced life - for good.

Think 1:1 Yoga could be right for you?

I am so pleased! I love working with people in this way.

Book a free consultation with me over Zoom, and we can talk through whether we are a right fit for each other. There is no commitment to book sessions after this chat.

My intention is to create a safe and supportive space to explore movement and reconnect

to the body and mind.

Since I started teaching, with every class I learn something new about myself and other people. The practice does not have to be complicated to be effective: simplicity is so powerful.    With the practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation I offer you a chance to reconnect to your body and mind; whether it be a private lesson, a group class or meditation, I am here to support you!

I've been practicing yoga for over 15 years. As a lifelong student, I am continually learning from my experiences, from my students and my teachers on this path.

My main areas of interest are:

Vinyasa Yoga - vinyasa literally translates as 'to place in a special way'. During your yoga practice you can focus on bringing awareness to your breathing and using your breath as a way to guide you through the movements. Its a form of flowing, fluid yoga linking poses together in a sequence that can be inspired by the seasons, yoga philosophy and teachings, chakras, themes - the list is endless!

Deep rest - one we ALL need in today's society - soothing the parasympathetic nervous system with Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga and meditation.

Neuroscience and pain - the nervous system is an intricate network that controls every aspect of our physical function, neuroscience gives us the tools to more accurately assess, identify, and target key areas of the nervous system that impact movement, athletic performance,  pain and day to day functioning – helping you to manage pain, move better, feel better and live better!

Women's health - I have a special interest in this area particularly and am an expert in how yoga can be used to support mental and physical health, especially during perimenopause, menopause and beyond, increasing strength, flexibility and mobility to better support us in life. I have extensive training in how to modify classes for bone health, pelvic floor issues, pain management, perimenopause and menopause.

Perhaps you and a group of friends would like a class designed for you? Maybe for a special occasion? As a gift? Or maybe in your outdoor space during those warmer months?
